Welcome to Gosport Gunners! As part of the Warriors Academy, Gosport Gunners is a dedicated development club committed to growing grassroots basketball on the South Coast. As part of our mission to make basketball more accessible across Hampshire, the Gunners offer a welcoming home for young players looking to learn and thrive. Sessions are designed for players looking to level up their skills and compete within our grassroots league. Committed players can progress through the Academy’s development pathway, to build towards National League opportunities with Warriors Elite.
What’s involved
Training with the Gunners is weekly, with league matches played Sept - Apr and friendly games played May-Aug.
Costs
Fees - Training & Game Costs £35 Per month (60 mins session) & £7.50 Per Game
Kit (vest is required for training & games): £25

Matthew Court is the Head Coach of our Gosport Gunners programme, leading the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 teams within the Warriors Basketball grassroots pathway. A Basketball England Level 2 coach, Matt joined the coaching team after his own children began their basketball journey through our Fun & Fundamentals sessions in Gosport.
Serving in the Royal Navy and living locally, Matt brings a wealth of leadership, playing experience and a genuine passion for developing young players. Since taking over the programme, he has done an outstanding job growing the club and guiding players into competitive Local League basketball. His enthusiasm, commitment and community spirit have made him a fantastic addition to the Warriors Basketball coaching team
Matthew Court - Lead Coach
Leon Bailey has been an integral part of the Gosport Gunners programme since its early days, initially volunteering alongside Gareth before progressing into an Assistant Coach role. Working closely with Head Coach Matthew Court, Leon has played a key role in developing players and helping grow basketball within the Gosport community.
Away from coaching, Leon serves in the police force and is an experienced player for the Warriors Men's Division 1 team, helping the club secure the Division 2 Championship before finishing as Division 1 runners-up the following season. Standing at 6'9", Leon also supports our Under-14 National League programme, bringing valuable playing experience, enthusiasm and leadership to every session. His commitment both on and off the court makes him a hugely valued member of the Warriors Basketball coaching team.
