At Warriors Basketball we believe in the power of hoops to inspire, educate and unite communities. We’re passionate about giving back to the local communities we serve – whether that’s through engaging young people in basketball and making it accessible to all, or by supporting local charities close to our hearts.
Community Initiative - HOOPZ 4 SKOOLZ
We believe in the power of community. Alongside our Grassroots clubs which increase participation in sport in local communities, our Hoopz 4 Skoolz initiative ensures that more children can experience the joy of basketball within school. So far, we have donated over £5,000 worth of basketball equipment to local schools, including full hoop systems.
What is Hoopz 4 Skoolz?
Our HOOPZ 4 SKOOLZ initiative aims to address the shortage of basketball hoops in junior and primary schools across the UK. Many Multi-Use Games Courts include 10ft hoops, which are often intimidating for younger children. We aim to provide dedicated and age-appropriate basketball equipment in schools, making the sport more accessible, enjoyable and safer for the next generation.
Our vision
HOOPZ 4 SKOOLZ envisions a future where every school has the opportunity to nurture young talent, promote physical activity, teamwork, and skill development through the love of basketball. The initiative isn’t just about installing hoops; it's about creating a basketball culture within our local schools and communities.
What we offer
The equipment supplied by the initiative ensures a safe and enjoyable environment, even for the youngest ballers. This includes:
Hoops: Adjustable-height basketball hoops suitable for all ages, ensuring a comfortable and safe playing experience
Basketballs: Donations of basketballs to keep the game rolling
Training and Education: Specialised training sessions and educational materials, including engaging slides, to help children develop fundamental basketball skills.

Club Chairty - Sophie’s Legacy
At Warriors Basketball, community and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. One of our most cherished partnerships is with Sophie’s Legacy, a charity dedicated to supporting children and families affected by cancer.
About Sophie’s Legacy
Sophie’s Legacy was established in memory of Sophie, a brave young local girl who battled cancer with remarkable courage. The charity aims to provide support to children undergoing cancer treatment and their families, ensuring they receive the emotional, financial, and practical assistance they need during such a challenging time. Sophie’s Legacy works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for these children and to fund research initiatives aimed at finding a cure.
Charitable partner
Our Whiteley Warriors team have proudly adopted Sophie’s Legacy as their key charitable partner since xxx. This important partnership is not just about raising funds, but also about raising awareness and fostering a community spirit of solidarity and support around those in need.
Dedicated team kits
Our Whiteley club kits proudly feature the Sophie’s Legacy log, funded by the generous contributions of the families within our club. A dedicated special kit with Sophie’s number, 12, has also been framed and presented to her mother, Charlotte, as a symbol of our support and remembrance.
Fundraising events
Throughout the year, we organise various fundraising events to support Sophie’s Legacy. This includes our media day – a standout event, where local photographer Vicki Luck Photography held a photo shoot capturing our amazing sport. The event raised over £1,500, which was split with the charity. From charity basketball games and tournaments to community fun days and bake sales, these events bring our community together to raise vital funds. The proceeds go directly towards helping families manage the financial burdens of cancer treatment and supporting ongoing research efforts.
Great South Run
Demonstrating our commitment, one of our dedicated coaches participated in the Great South Run in honour of Sophie’s Legacy, raising additional funds for the charity. This effort not only helped financially but also served to raise awareness among the broader community about the important work Sophie’s Legacy does.
Awareness Campaigns
We actively run and promote awareness campaigns, sharing information about Sophie’s Legacy through our social media channels, newsletters, and at our events. By educating our community about the challenges faced by children with cancer and their families, we hope to inspire more people to get involved and support this worthy cause.
Youth Engagement
We believe in empowering our young players to make a difference. Our junior teams regularly take part in activities and projects designed to support Sophie’s Legacy. Whether it’s organising charity runs, creating handmade cards for children in hospitals, or participating in awareness drives, our young Warriors are always eager to contribute and show their solidarity.
