At Warriors Basketball, our vision is to create one of the UK's leading community basketball programmes by providing opportunities for every player, coach, official and volunteer to learn, develop and thrive within a safe, inclusive and professionally managed environment.

Our aim is not simply to win games. We are committed to growing the sport across South Hampshire, creating lifelong opportunities for young people and building a sustainable pathway that takes players from their very first basketball session through to Local League, National League and beyond.

Everything we do is guided by the Warriors Way—putting people first, developing great environments and making basketball accessible to everyone.

Growing Basketball Participation

Since launching in 2021, Warriors Basketball has grown into one of the largest community basketball organisations in the region, supporting over 500 players and family members, including more than 400 junior players.

Over the coming years, we aim to continue growing participation by:

• Expanding basketball opportunities across South Hampshire.

• Providing more introductory sessions for children of all ages.

• Increasing opportunities for players to progress into Local League and National League basketball.

• Creating inclusive programmes for beginners, recreational players and performance athletes.

• Removing barriers that prevent young people from accessing basketball.

Our objective is to ensure every child who wants to play basketball has somewhere local to develop.

Strengthening Grassroots Basketball

Warriors Basketball currently operates five community basketball clubs across South Hampshire, providing local opportunities for players to train, develop and compete.

Our ambition is to strengthen grassroots basketball by:

• Continuing to grow participation across all five community clubs.

• Expanding opportunities for children to play competitive basketball closer to home.

• Creating clear pathways from beginner sessions through to National League competition.

• Increasing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

• Delivering high-quality coaching within local communities.

Strong grassroots basketball creates stronger players, stronger clubs and stronger communities.

Developing Local League Basketball

Competitive basketball is an essential part of player development.

Our Local League programme has been created to provide meaningful competition for developing players whilst supporting clubs throughout the region.

Over the coming years we aim to:

• Continue expanding the Warriors Local League.

• Meet and exceed Basketball England's operating standards for league delivery.

• Welcome additional clubs into the competition.

• Provide more competitive opportunities for junior players.

• Deliver professionally organised leagues with qualified officials and safeguarding standards throughout.

This creates an affordable, accessible and sustainable competitive pathway before players progress into National League basketball.

Hoopz 4 Skoolz

We believe the best way to grow basketball is by working directly with schools.

Our Hoopz for Skoolz initiative is designed to support local primary and secondary schools by increasing access to basketball and improving facilities for young people.

Through this programme we aim to:

• Deliver basketball coaching within more local schools.

• Provide teacher support and basketball resources.

• Reinvest into schools by helping fund equipment, basketballs and age-appropriate hoops.

• Increase opportunities for children to experience basketball during the school day.

• Create clear links between schools and our community clubs.

By investing back into schools, we can help create sustainable basketball programmes that continue to benefit children long into the future.

Investing in Coaches, Referees and Volunteers

Great clubs are built by great people.

As a Basketball England Leading Club, we are committed to continually developing the people who support our players.

Our objectives include:

• Increasing the number of qualified Basketball England coaches.

• Supporting more volunteers through coaching qualifications.

• Developing additional referees and table officials across the region.

• Creating leadership opportunities for young volunteers.

• Providing mentoring, education and continuous professional development.

Investment through our Leading Club accreditation and external funding enables us to build a stronger workforce that benefits every player within the club.

Community Engagement

Basketball has the power to change lives and strengthen communities.

We will continue working alongside schools, local authorities, community organisations and funding partners to:

• Deliver more community basketball projects.

• Expand school partnerships.

• Increase opportunities for underrepresented groups.

• Support health, wellbeing and physical activity across our communities.

• Deliver inclusive programmes that make basketball accessible to everyone.

We want Warriors Basketball to be recognised not only for developing players, but also for making a lasting positive impact within the communities we serve.
